COLLEGE PARK, Md. — George Mason lost to Maryland 3-0 (14-25, 10-25, 12-25) on Monday. The Patriots were held to 25 kills and a -.061 hitting percentage, while Maryland finished with 37 kills and hit .400.

The Patriots' main response came after Maryland built a 10-4 lead, with a Nia Thompson kill and consecutive Rylee Kinnell service aces cutting the gap to 11-9. Maryland pushed the set back to 16-10 and later scored six straight after Caroline Rodriguez's kill had made it 18-13. Meredith Brown's block gave the Patriots one more point before Maryland finished the set 25-14.

The Patriots answered an 0-2 start with kills by Jenna Hunt and Rodriguez, both set by Camryn Weldon, to get even at 2-2, but Maryland controlled the second set from there. Hunt finished the set with four kills and Thompson added three for the Patriots, while Maryland built its margin through kills, blocks and Patriots errors. Maryland closed the set at 25-10.

The Patriots were within 10-8 in the third set after a Rodriguez kill and a Maryland attack error, but Maryland pulled away to 18-9 with only a Kinnell kill interrupting the stretch. Kinnell, Brown and Thompson added late kills for the Patriots, but Maryland closed the set 25-12.
