FAIRFAX, Va. — George Mason defeated Hampton 3-0 on Sunday. The Patriots hit .340 with 48 kills and held Hampton to 29 kills and a .202 hitting percentage.

The Patriots moved from a 4-3 edge to a 10-3 lead with six straight points in the opening set, with Autumn Martinez-Robinson serving five consecutive points and recording two service aces. Mia Hazelett later added back-to-back aces to make it 16-6, and the Green & Gold closed the set 25-16 on a block by Jenna Hunt and Nia Thompson.

The Patriots built an 8-3 lead in the second set behind kills from Caroline Rodriguez, Rylee Kinnell, Meredith Brown and Thompson, plus a Rodriguez service ace. The Green & Gold continued to get production from Thompson and Kinnell late, with Thompson putting the team at set point and Kinnell closing the set on a kill from Camryn Weldon. The Patriots won the set 25-17.

The Green & Gold broke a 7-7 tie with four straight points, getting three Thompson kills during the stretch to move ahead 11-7. Hampton later closed to 20-19, but Hunt delivered three late kills, Thompson added a service ace, and Kinnell finished the set with a kill for a 25-21 Patriots win.
