FAIRFAX, Va. – Senior midfielder James Eliuda scored his third goal of the season in a 1-1 draw with No. 12 Ohio State on Friday night at George Mason Stadium.

George Mason (1-4-3, 0-1-1 A10) and Ohio State (5-2-2, 0-2-1 BIG TEN) played a scoreless first half, with each team taking four shots.  Patriots' sophomore goalkeeper Angel Hernandez made three of his four saves on the night in the first half of play.

In the 83rd minute, sophomore midfielder Jaime Godinho took a shot from 18 yards out that went off the hand of the Buckeyes goalkeeper and off the crossbar before bouncing on the goal line.  Eliuda brought the crowd of nearly 2,000 to their feet when he slid into the box to pounce on the rebound and buried a shot into the center of the net to put the Patriots in front, 1-0.

Ohio State evened the score four minutes later when senior midfielder Ryan Hannosh scored the equalizer for his second goal of the season in the 87th minute for the 1-1 draw.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

George Mason outshot Ohio State 10-9, while the Buckeyes had a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.  The Patriots had eight corner kicks and the Buckeyes earned just one corner kick in the match.

Senior forward Gabin Thomelier (69 MIN) recorded two shots on goal and junior forward Martim Sereno (83 MIN) took two shots with one on frame.  Eliuda (90 MIN) scored his third goal in the last five games and Godinho (90 MIN) registered his third assist of the season.

The Patriots return to Atlantic 10 play when they host Duquesne on Saturday, Oct. 3 with the opening kick scheduled for 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.
