BALTIMORE, Md. — George Mason defeated Morgan St. 3-1 (25-21, 25-14, 23-25, 25-21) on Saturday. The Patriots finished with 55 kills and hit .215, including a 10-0 run in the second set.

The Green & Gold answered a 13-10 deficit with four straight points, including two Avery Booker aces and a Nia Thompson kill, to move ahead 14-13 in the first set. After Morgan St. tied it at 14, the Patriots won the next six rallies, with Kiera Hamilton serving through five straight Patriots points and Thompson adding three kills in that stretch. Morgan St. cut into a 23-16 margin late, but Thompson and Caroline Rodriguez delivered the final two Green & Gold points to close a 25-21 set win.

The Patriots broke open the second set with a 10-0 surge, turning a 13-11 edge into a 23-11 advantage. Hamilton served for nine straight Green & Gold points during that stretch, adding an ace while Jenna Hunt put down three kills. Thompson closed the set with a kill from Ava Cheney for a 25-14 win.

The Green & Gold created early separation in the third set, moving from a 3-2 deficit to a 7-4 lead with kills from Thompson, Hamilton and Hunt. The Patriots later led 20-17, but Morgan St. tied the set at 20-20 and went ahead 22-21 before closing out a 25-23 set.

The Patriots created separation in the fourth set with an eight-point run that stretched their lead from 4-3 to 12-3, including seven straight points on Thompson's serve. Thompson and Hamilton each had multiple kills during that push, while Meredith Brown was involved in two blocks in the set. The Green & Gold held off Morgan St. from there and finished the set with Hamilton's kill for a 25-21 win.
