FAIRFAX, Va. – The Patriots played to a 3-3 draw against No. 15 Marshall on Tuesday night at George Mason Stadium.
George Mason (1-1-1) took the lead over Marshall (1-0-2) early in the first half. Fifth-year midfielder
Matias de Jesus worked past a defender and scored his second goal of the season past the diving Thundering Herd goalkeeper inside the right post to put the Patriots in front 1-0.

John Balkey played a perfect pass ahead to senior forward
Kelly Janssen, who scored his first goal of the season into the lower left corner of the net to send the Patriots into the half up 2-0.
George Mason increased the lead early in the second half. In the 57th minute, sophomore forward
Matthew Dean chipped the ball to Balkey, who sailed a 40-yard pass ahead to senior midfielder
Quentin Clain. Clain expanded the distance on the nearest defender, dribbled into the penalty area one-on-one with the charging goalkeeper and netted his first goal of the season into lower right corner to make it 3-0.
Marshall got on the board in the 69th minute when junior midfielder Nikita Pakhomov scored from 26 yards out into the upper right corner.

Jack Desroches taking over in net.
In the 78th minute, Desroches made a spectacular save on a penalty kick, diving out to his right to make the save to keep the lead at two goals.
Marshall freshman forward Joshua Nugent scored his first collegiate goal in the 81st minute and senior defender Thiago Apolinario netted the equalizer in the 86th minute of play for the 3-3 final score.
