FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics Marvin Lewis announced today the promotions of two longtime members of the Patriots' senior leadership team, elevating Nena Rogers to Senior Deputy Athletic Director, Performance and Strategic Operations/Senior Woman Administrator and Keith Morrisroe to Deputy Athletic Director, Capital Projects, Facilities and Events.

Rogers Elevated to Senior Deputy Athletic Director, Performance and Strategic Operations
Entering her 28th season with George Mason Athletics, Rogers continues to build on a distinguished career dedicated to enhancing the student-athlete experience. She served as Interim Assistant Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics during the 2022-23 academic year before being promoted to Deputy Athletics Director, Student Services and Performance and Senior Woman Administrator in July 2023.
In her new position, Rogers will lead the implementation of Athletics' strategic plan while strengthening collaboration with key campus partners. She will continue to serve as the women's volleyball while adding oversight of the Patriots' flagship men's basketball program. Rogers will also continue to oversee Sports Performance and Academic Services while maintaining her responsibilities as Senior Woman Administrator.
A former NCAA national champion and George Mason Hall of Fame student-athlete, Rogers has spent her career championing the holistic development of student-athletes through academic achievement, personal growth, leadership development, and competitive success. She was the driving force behind the development of Intercollegiate Athletics' life skills program, which focuses on student-athlete welfare through personal growth, career development, and community engagement.
Morrisroe Promoted to Deputy Athletic Director, Capital Projects, Facilities and Events
Morrisroe, who joined George Mason Athletics in 2014, will serve as the department's senior facilities executive and oversee the planning, prioritization, and execution of capital projects, including new construction, major renovations, deferred maintenance initiatives, and lifecycle asset management.
He previously served as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Events after overseeing events, facilities, and game operations for the Patriots.
In his new role, Morrisroe will serve as Intercollegiate Athletics' primary facilities authority and liaison with University Space and Capital Planning, Facilities Management, Environmental Health & Safety, and external consultants. He will lead all minor renovation and deferred maintenance projects and support larger capital initiatives in collaboration with university leadership, architects, engineers, and contractors.
Morrisroe also will contribute to departmental strategic planning and long-range operational initiatives while collaborating with the Athletics Director and Senior Leadership Team on operating and capital budgets related to facilities, events, and infrastructure.
The promotions come at a key time for George Mason Athletics as the department continues to build on groundbreaking momentum. Following a historic year of record-breaking fundraising, significant investments in facilities and infrastructure, and the continued implementation of its five-year strategic plan, George Mason Athletics is strengthening its position as Northern Virginia's Team while laying the foundation for sustained success.
