BURLINGTON, Vt. – The George Mason men's soccer team fell to No. 13 Vermont, 2-0, in the season opener on Thursday night in Burlington, Vt.
Vermont (1-0-0) took the lead over George Mason (0-1-0) in the 20th minute of play. The Catamounts played a long pass ahead and graduate student forward David Ismail took a cross in the top-center of the penalty area, and found the back of the net with a low shot into the right corner.
In the 22nd minute, Vermont created another quality chance, but Patriots redshirt-senior goalkeeper
Jack Desroches made his second big save of the first half.
In the 62nd of play, Desroches received a red card when he touched the ball outside the box forcing the Patriots to play the rest of the match with 10 players, with sophomore goalkeeper

In the 76th minute, Ismail took a lead pass and scored his second goal of the game into the upper right corner for the 2-0 final score.
