FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball head coach
Tony Skinn ('06) has announced that Bryton Barrett has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Patriots, beginning in 2026-27.
A 6-foot-8-inch wing from Owings Mills, Md., Barrett earned 2026 All-WCAC Honorable Mention accolades in 2026 while competing for Archbishop Carroll in Washington, D.C.
"Bryton is the type of wing player our program covets," Skinn said. "He's the ultimate glue guy who has great position versatility and an excellent skill set. He can shoot it, handle it and pass the ball well. While playing in the WCAC and Baltimore Catholic League, he's competed at a high level and faced some elite competition. He has the DNA and pedigree to be a very good player."
While competing for head coach Malcolm Battle, Barrett led Archbishop Carroll to a #11 final ranking in the All-Met Boys Basketball ledger and the program's first 20-win season in 30 years. The Lions reached the semifinals of the 2026 WCAC Championship.
During the 2025-26 campaign, Barrett led Archbishop Carroll in rebounding (8.0 rpg) and blocks (0.9 bpg) while ranking third on the team in scoring (11.0 ppg).
Barrett starred for DC Premier on the AAU circuit, where he was named a First Team All-Defensive selection.
Barrett joins an incoming freshman class which includes guard Peyton Miller (Atlanta, Ga.) and forward Shane Pendergrass (Upper Marlboro, Md.).
