Manheim, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced its NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-American individual and team awards, recognizing outstanding academic achievement and programs that demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence both on the mat and in the classroom.
A record number of teams posted a GPA above 3.0 this season, with George Mason finishing 18th overall. The Patriots have now earned a Top 30 team ranking for the seventh consecutive year.
George Mason placed six student-athletes on the Scholar All-America list, including four repeat honorees. Graduate student Logan Messer earned the distinction for the fourth time in his career, while Kaden Cassidy and Malachi DuVall each collected their third consecutive honors. Drew Dickson was recognized for the second time, and freshmen Tate Hisey and Anthony Lucchiani earned the accolade in their first collegiate seasons.
In total, 390 student-athletes from 73 institutions were recognized for their academic success during the season.
"These student-athletes have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence both on the mat and in the classroom," said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. "We commend their dedication and the example they set for the sport."
