FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball incoming freshman Shane Pendergrass will compete in the 2026 Capital Classic Saturday inside Capital One Arena in Washington D.C.

The 12 p.m. contest will be televised live on Monumental Sports Network.

The annual high school all-star game, now in its 52nd edition, features the top basketball talent from the capital region (DC, Maryland and Virginia) versus student-athletes from across the United States. The game has become a stepping stone for many collegiate All-Americans, NBA All-Stars and Basketball Hall of Fame recipients.

Throughout the years, the game has showcased notable NBA icons including Moses Malone, Magic Johnson, Dominique Wilkins, Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Grant Hill, LeBron James, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Klay Thompson.

Pendergrass is the second-highest rated recruit in George Mason program history. He is a consensus 4-star, top-100 national prospect across Rivals.com, 247Sports and a host of other recruiting sites.

The Upper Marlboro, Md., ascended to 85th nationally in the Rivals.com Top-150, and was rated the No. 14 power forward in the class and the No. 6 player in Virginia. He also is rated as a 4-star prospect and a top-50 forward by ESPN.

Pendergrass chose the Patriots over offers from Virginia Tech, Cal and Boise State, among others.

A two-time National Prep All-America selection at Hargrave Military Academy, he also is a two-time, First Team All Elite Prep League pick. An 1,000-point scorer, Pendergrass garnered EPL Championship Most Outstanding Player accolades this spring while leading the Tigers to the league title. He notched a 28-point, 12-rebound double-double in an EPL semifinal win over Mt. Zion Prep.

In 2024-25, he ranked t-4th in the conference with 17.4 points/game in league play and was fourth in rebounds/game (8.9).
