FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball head coach
Tony Skinn ('06) has announced that 2026 Patriot League All-Rookie Team selection Emmett Adair will join the Patriot roster beginning in 2026-27.
The Sydney, Australia, product, started 15 games during his freshman campaign at Loyola (Md.) while ranking second on the Greyhounds and 12
th in the conference in points per game (14.6).
"Emmett is an elite shooter and he has a great touch around the rim," Skinn said. "At 6-9, he's a positional threat at both the four and the five positions. I think his versatility and his skill set are really going to help us. What he was able to accomplish during his freshman year was impressive, and he's only going to get better."
Adair proved to be a gifted scorer amongst the nation's Class of 2025. He was one of just 11 freshmen to score 25+ points in at least five games, joining an impressive list which includes likely NBA Draft lottery selections AJ Dybantsa (BYU), Cam Boozer (Duke), Darius Acuff Jr. (Arkansas) and Brayden Burries (Arizona).
He also was one of just 12 freshmen nationally to average 14+ points and five or more rebounds per game in 2025-26.
In Patriot league play, Adair tallied an impressive 15.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 47.2 percent from the floor. He scored 23+ points in six of the team's final nine regular season games.
Prior to his collegiate career, Adair graduated from St. Aloysius College in Australia. He played his prep basketball at the NBA Academy at the Centre of Excellence at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra.
This past summer, Adair represented his home country with pride while competing for the Australian Senior National Team. He shot 46.8 percent from the field and 58.0 percent from 2-point range while leading the Aussies to a 6-0 record in FIBA Asia Cup qualifying. At the the U-17 FIBA Oceania Championship in 2023, he averaged 14.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the national team.
Adair joins Efeosa Oliogu-Elabor (Butler) in George Mason's talented transfer class. They will suit up alongside a group of Patriot returners which includes 2025-26 Preseason All-A-10 First Team selection
Brayden O'Connor,
Emmanuel Kanga,
Malik Presley and
Ryan-Preston Mendy.
