FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason women's basketball has announced the addition of Lourdes Da Silva Costa (Alabama) to its roster for the 2026-27 season.

Da Silva Costa brings high-level experience from the SEC along with an impressive international and prep résumé to the Green & Gold.

"Welcome Lourdes Da Silva Costa!" said head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis. "From our first conversation, we knew she was a special person. Lourdes plays with toughness, confidence, and a motor that never stops. She's a competitor who embraces hard work, and she has the mindset of someone who wants to be coached and wants to win. Add in her academic focus and leadership qualities, and it's clear she's going to have a major impact in our program. She is a program changer."

During the 2025-26 season at Alabama, Da Silva Costa appeared in 25 of 33 games, averaging 7.1 minutes per contest. She posted career highs across the board against Sam Houston on Dec. 16, recording nine points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

Prior to Alabama, Da Silva Costa was a highly decorated prospect out of Montverde Academy, one of the nation's premier programs. She earned ESPNW four-star status and was ranked as high as No. 40 in the BTN Scouting 150 and No. 44 by All-Stars Girls Report, while ESPNW listed her at No. 51 nationally.

She was named Student-Athlete of the Year at Montverde Academy (2023-24) and helped lead the program to both the 2023 GEICO High School National Championship and the 2024 Chipotle High School National Championship. Da Silva Costa also competed on the Nike EYBL circuit with Essence 17U under director Kimberly Davis-Powell.

Internationally, Da Silva Costa has been a standout for Sweden. She earned All-Star Team honors at the Division B U16 European Championships (2022-23) and was named MVP of the U16 Nordic Championships while also securing All-Star Team recognition (2021-22). She averaged 9.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in 21 minutes of action for her Sweden club team during the 2022-23 season and was recognized as the program's most improved player in 2018.

Da Silva Costa will join the Patriots for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign, adding depth, rebounding, and international experience to George Mason's roster.
