FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason women's basketball head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis has announced the addition of 5'11" guard/forward Summer Yancy (UCF) to the program for the 2026-27 season.

"Welcome Summer Yancy! She's a high-character player who consistently makes winning plays." said Coach Blair-Lewis. "Her skill set, work ethic, and defensive intensity stand out, and she plays the game the right way — unselfish, poised, and competitive. Beyond basketball, she's a strong student who values education and has shown the discipline needed to succeed at the next level. Summer is a complete package, and we can't wait for our fans to see what she brings to our culture."

Yancy joins the Patriots after two seasons at UCF, bringing experience from one of the nation's top conferences and a versatile skill set on both ends of the floor.

During her sophomore campaign in 2025-26, Yancy appeared in 29 games while making 16 starts in Big 12 play. She averaged 6.4 points per game, totaling 186 points on 54 made field goals, including 16 from beyond the arc. Yancy also made her mark as a facilitator and defender, leading the team with 2.1 assists per game (62 total) and ranking second with 30 steals on the season.

Her sophomore season featured several standout performances, including a career-high 25-point outing in an upset victory over Colorado, where she knocked down five three-pointers while adding six rebounds and three assists. Yancy recorded four double-digit scoring games and posted three contests with five or more made field goals. She also proved effective on the glass, highlighted by a nine-rebound performance against TCU on Jan. 24 and nine games with at least five rebounds. Additionally, she tallied 12 points on five field goals in a matchup against Utah on Feb. 4.

As a freshman in 2024-25, Yancy appeared in 21 games and showed early flashes of her scoring ability, recording a then-career-high 14 points in back-to-back games against Stetson (Nov. 16) and North Florida (Nov. 19). She also contributed across the stat sheet with seven blocks, eight steals, and nine assists on the season.

A native of Kansas City, Mo., Yancy starred at the high school level, where she was a three-time Class 6 All-State selection and earned District Player of the Year honors while leading her team to district championships in 2023 and 2024. She helped guide her program to its first-ever state tournament appearance and finished her career ranked among the top 10 all-time in both blocks and steals. Yancy was rated the No. 4 player in the state of Missouri and amassed 1,400 points and 782 rebounds during her prep career.

Yancy's ability to impact the game as a scorer, facilitator, and defender will add depth and versatility to the Patriots' roster as the Green & Gold prepare for the 2026-27 campaign.
