FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason women's basketball has announced the addition of Anovia Sheals (Daytona Beach, Fla./Mainland HS/Austin Peay), who will join the Patriots for the 2026-27 season.

Sheals arrives in Fairfax following two standout seasons at Austin Peay, where she developed into one of the ASUN's top all-around players. As a sophomore in 2025-26, she earned Second Team All-ASUN honors, was named to the ASUN All-Tournament Team, and garnered CSC All-District Academic Team recognition after averaging 14.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 29.3 minutes per game across 33 appearances.
As a freshman in 2024-25, Sheals was named the ASUN Sixth Player of the Year and earned ASUN All-Freshman Team honors after making an immediate impact off the bench. She appeared in 30 games with five starts, averaging 11.0 points in 27.1 minutes per contest.
Off the court, Sheals has excelled academically, earning Dean's List honors (Spring 2025), Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognition (Fall 2024), and CSC All-District Academic Team accolades.
Prior to her collegiate career, Sheals was one of the most decorated high school players in Florida history at Mainland High School. She was named the 2022-23 Florida Girls Basketball Player of the Year and led her team to its first state championship while averaging 20 points per game. A two-time Florida 5A Player of the Year, she finished her prep career with over 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. As a senior, she averaged 18.4 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, recording a season-high 32 points against Spruce Creek.
With her proven scoring ability, versatility, and continued development, Sheals adds a major piece to the Patriots' roster heading into the 2026-27 season.
