  • Senior shortstop Owen Clyne finished with three hits, one RBI and scored a run

Georgetown (10-6) took the lead in the top of the third with a two-run double by junior designated hitter Ashtin Gilio and RBI-single by graduate student shortstop Connor Peek to make the score 3-0.

George Mason (6-7) got on the board in the home half of the fourth against Hoyas graduate student starter Spencer Seid.  Junior first baseman Jake Butler led off with a walk, Clyne singled and Alberti then drove in two runs with a double to the gap in right-center to cut the lead to 3-2.

With one out in the fifth, Canody singled, stole second and moved to third on a fly out.  Butler then plated a run with a single to right field to tie the game, 3-3.

The Hoyas regained the lead in the top of the sixth against Patriots graduate student Diego Cardenas.  Hoyas sophomore right fielder Christian Hamilton hit a two-out, solo home run over the left field fence to make it 4-3.

Georgetown added a run in the seventh on a solo home run by graduate student catcher Connor Price.

In the bottom of the seventh, Canody doubled to left with one out and with two outs, Butler walked.  Clyne then singled up the middle to plate the final run of the game.

For the Patriots, Parker allowed three runs on four hits in 2.2 innings in his home debut and first NCAA start.  Cardenas (2-2) gave up two runs on two hits in 4.0 innings and took the loss.  Junior Shaun Okeeffe retired the lone batter he faced in the third.  Graduate student Carter Kelsey worked the eighth and sophomore Jake Drumm pitched the ninth.

For the Hoyas, Seid (4-0) surrendered three runs on six hits in 5.0 innings but earned the win.  Junior Jack Volo allowed one run on two hits in the seventh inning.  Graduate student closer Luke Jackman pitched the ninth to earn his fourth save of the season.
