HENRICO, Va. - The #2 George Mason women's basketball team will take on the #3 Richmond Spiders on Saturday, March 7 in the Semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The game will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network with tip-off set for 1:30 p.m ET. Tommy Buckles and Simon Burts will be on the GoMason Digital Network starting at approximately 1:15 p.m. ET.
This is the 71st matchup between the Patriots and Spiders. The teams split the two matchups this season, eaching winning on their home court. Richmond leads the neutral site matchups, 6-2.
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
Richmond enters the matchup with a 26-6 overall record and a 15-3 mark in Atlantic 10 play. The Spiders average 73.5 points per game while allowing 59.0 points per game, resulting in a +14.5 scoring margin. Ally Sweeney contributes 10.6 points and a team-high 141 assists, averaging 4.4 assists per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from beyond the arc. Alicia Newell averages 7.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game and leads the team with 58 steals.
