FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason Men's Volleyball senior
Georgi Zahariev was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Offensive Player of the Week,
the league announced Monday afternoon. This is the setter's first weekly conference award of the season as well as his second in his collegiate career.
Senior setter Zahariev played a major role in George Mason's 2-0 weekend in Fairfax, having played in all seven sets and beating No. 19 NJIT and Dominican. The Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, native had an exceptional
Friday game in their ranked win over NJIT, where he recorded a season-high 53 assists, one shy of his career high. Zahariev also assisted in three blocks and recorded a service ace.
The setter carried his momentum going into
Sunday's victory as well, recording a game-high 38 assists, three block assists, a .938 service percentage and another service ace.
This past weekend, Zahariev totaled 91 assists (13.00 per set), 15 digs (2.14 per set), two service aces, an .882 service percentage, a .571 hitting percentage, six blocks, four kills and nine total points. He currently leads the EIVA at 10.02 assists per set.

George Mason will travel to North Carolina this week for two games. On Friday, March 6, the Patriots will play Queens University of Charlotte at 6 p.m. The following day, they will play Belmont Abbey in Belmont at 4 p.m.
