Riley Allenspach led the George Mason University men's basketball team (21-7, 9-6) during an 81-63 loss at Saint Joseph's Wednesday night inside Hagan Arena.
Allenspach matched his A-10 personal best with 23 points in the contest and made a pair of 3-pointers. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out two assists in 31 minutes.
Despite Allenspach's effort, George Mason could not contain the Hawks hot-shooting evening, as SJU made 11 3-pointers and 51.6 percent (32-62) of its attempts overall.
On the other end of the floor, the. Patriots shot 39.7 percent and struggled from 3-point range while making 6-of-24 attempts.
Devin Booker notched a career-high with nine points and tied a personal best with four rebounds, while
Nick Ellington chipped in six points (3-3 FG).
The two teams played to a 10-10 tie, before the Hawks used a 13-0 run to build a 23-10 advantage. A 7-0 run by George Mason cut the lead to six (23-17), but another big SJU run – this time 16-2 – pushed the Hawk lead up to 19 (38-19). SJU led by that margin (44-25) at the half.
Next up, George Mason returns home to host St. Bonaventure on Saturday (Feb. 28) inside EagleBank Arena. Tip-off between the Patriots and Bonnies is set for 2 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on Monumental Sports Network and ESPN+.
