HAMPTON, Va. – The George Mason men's swimming and diving team set an Atlantic 10 Conference record and two program records at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championships at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Va.
In the 800-yard freestyle relay the men's team set a new program and conference record for the second straight year at the A-10 Championships. The team of senior
Tate Anderson, juniors
Alex Crown and
Cody Scifres, and sophomore
Ryan Serbia won the gold with a time of 6:23.83. Anderson also set the program record with his lead off split in the 200-freestyle.
The Patriots broke last year's mark of 6:24.73, with Anderson, Crown and Scifres on the 800-freestyle relay team a year ago.
George Mason also set a new program record in the 200-yard medley relay for the second straight year at the A-10 Championships. The combination of senior
Jack Chapman and
Aoun Al-Hiari, along with juniors
Ian Rodgers and
Agustin Rasche placed second with a time of 1:26.10.
In the men's one-meter diving event, junior
Christian Anderson placed eighth in the Championship Final with a score of 258.70. Sophomore
Caden Guy was fifth in the Consolation Final of the event with a score of 236.95.
On the women's side, the team of seniors
Ainsley Toews,
Angelina Zeidan and
Peyton Brehmer, and freshman
Sidney Kaufman placed seventh in the 200-yard medley relay (1:42.12).
In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the group of junior
Kristen Ivey, sophomore
Greta Mott and freshmen
Madelyn Abel and
Alexis Brazier finished eighth (7:27.87).
Day one is the shortest day of competition.
On the men's side, La Salle has the top spot after day one (94), with St. Bonaventure second (90) and George Mason third (89). George Washington is fourth (82) followed by Fordham (79), Saint Louis (65) and Davidson (60).
On the women's side, Richmond has the lead (74), with Duquesne second (68) and La Salle third (66). St. Bonaventure is fourth (58), followed George Washington (56), Fordham (56), George Mason (46), Rhode Island (40), Saint Louis (36) and Davidson (36).
The Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships continue Thursday, with the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle relay and women's one-meter diving. Preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
