Eugene, Ore – The George Mason baseball team dropped both game of its doubleheader to No. 23 Oregon, 14-5 and 14-4, on Saturday at PK Park in Eugene, Ore.
GAME ONE
George Mason (0-2) took the lead against Oregon (2-0) junior starter Collin Clarke in the top of the first. With one out, freshman second baseman
Julius Bagnerise hit his first collegiate home run to right-center to put the Patriots in front, 1-0.
In the bottom of the second, the Ducks sent 12 batters to the plate and scored nine runs on five hits to take the lead. Oregon freshman right fielder Angel Laya hit his first collegiate home run with a two-run blast to right field and senior third baseman Drew Smith hit a two-out grand slam off George Mason sophomore reliever

The teams traded single runs in the fourth. In the top of the inning, George Mason sophomore left fielder
Lucas Alberti hit his first home run of the season, a two-out solo shot over the right field fence to make it 9-2. Oregon got the run back in the home half of the frame with a leadoff double and a one-out, RBI single to make it a 10-2 game.
After two scoreless innings, the Patriots plated three runs in the top of the seventh against Oregon junior reliever Leo Uelmen. Graduate student center fielder

Matthew Westley doubled in a run and senior designated hitter
Laken Tignor followed with a two-RBI single up the middle to cut the lead to 10-5.
In the home half of the eighth, Laya led off with his second home run of the game to right field. After a single and a double, junior second baseman Ryan Cooney hit a three-run home run to left field for the 14-5 final score.
For the Patriots, Cardenas (0-1) allowed eight runs on five hits in 1.2 innings. Drumm gave up six runs on seven hits and struck out five batters in 5.1 innings of work. Graduate student
Tyson Willis struck out the side in the eighth inning in his George Mason debut.
For the Ducks, Clarke (1-0) allowed two runs on two hits with 10 strikeouts in 6.0 innings to earn the win. Ulemen surrendered three runs on four hits in 1.2 innings. Senior Ryder Edwards tossed 1.1 hitless innings.
Alberti went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and scored two runs, Bagnerise was 1-for-3 with his first NCAA home run and Westley finished 1-for-3 and notched his first hit, RBI and run scored as a Patriot.

GAME TWO
Oregen (3-0) took the early lead in the bottom of the second against George Mason (0-3) senior starter
Logan Rumberg with a two-out, unearned run.
In the home half of the third, junior shortstop Maddox Molony and senior third baseman Drew Smith hit back-to-back solo home runs to increase the lead to 3-0.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Ducks sent 13 batters to the plate and scored eight runs on three hits, four walks and three hit batters against Rumberg, junior reliever Shaun Okeefe and graduate student reliever
Jackson Peters to extend the advantage to 11-0.
Oregon tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth with a walk and a two-out, RBI-double to make it 12-0.
The Patriots scored all their runs in the top of the seventh against Oregon sophomore Gabe Howard and freshman Shane Johnson to make the score 12-4. Cowdrey drove in a run with a sacrifice fly Alberti plated in three runs with a bases-loaded double.
In the bottom of the inning, Ducks freshman Brayden Jaksa hit a two-run home run, his first collegiate home run, for the 14-4 final score.
The Patriots used five pitchers. Rumberg (0-1) allowed six runs, five earned, on six hits in 3.2 innings. Okeeffe gave up three runs on one hit. Peters was charged with two runs on one hit. Junior

Tanner Kaler pitched 1.0 inning and allowed one hit.
Oregon used five pitchers in the game. Sophomore starter Cal Scolari (1-0) tossed 4.0 hitless innings with seven strikeouts and three walks to earn the win. Senior Ian Umlandt scattered two hits over 2.0 scoreless innings. Sophomore Michael Mechna closed out the game with 2.0 hitless innings.
The Patriots and Ducks conclude the four-game series on Sunday with the first pitch scheduled for 3:05 p.m. (EST) at PK Park in Eugene, Ore.
