FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University men's basketball team (18-1, 6-0) heads to the Ocean State Saturday for the second of two matchups vs. Rhode Island (11-8, 2-4) this season.
Tip-off between the Patriots and Rams is set for 2 p.m. Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+, featuring commentary from Michael Sormanti, Steven Brien and Jonathan Blair. In addition, Voice of the Patriots Bill Rohland will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage beginning at 1:45 p.m.

• The Patriots are 18-1 for the first time in school history and 6-0 in A-10 play for the first time in program annals. GMU is one of just eight programs nationally to have 18 or more wins.
• Since the start of the 2024-25 season, George Mason leads the A-10 and ranks t-8th nationally in total wins (45).
• George Mason is 23-3 (.885) in its last 26 A-10 games dating back to the 2023-24 campaign. That's the best stretch by an A-10 school in league contests since Dayton went 26-3 from 2019-21.
• The Patriots increased their winning streak to nine with a 69-64 triumph over GW Monday in Fairfax. GMU held the Revolutionaries' top-50 offense to 42.1 percent shooting and 64 points, well under the team's season average of 87.1.

Riley Allenspach led the Patriots with his second double-double (18 pts, 12 reb) of the season. He paces the team in scoring in A-10 play (16.4 ppg) and is averaging 18.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and shooting 63.6 percent over the past four games.

Kory Mincy scored his 1000th career point in Monday's win over GW. The two-time A-10 Player of the Week ranks fourth in the A-10 in scoring (16.4 ppg), second in assist/turnover ratio (2.46), ninth in assists per contest (3.6) and eighth in 3pt FGM/game (2.26). He is 14th nationally in FT percentage (.922).
• George Mason has shot at least 47 percent from the floor in five of six A-10 contests. The Patriots rank second in the A-10 and 37th nationally in overall field goal percentage (.488) this season.
• The Patriots lead the A-10 and are 39th nationally in turnovers/game (10.2). Prior to Monday's contest, George Mason had committed less than 10 in a school-record seven-straight games.
• Over the last three games,
Masai Troutman is averaging 13.7 points, 2.3 assists, 32.1 minutes and shooting 57.7 FG percent (.467 3pt FG).

HISTORY vs. RHODE ISLAND
Saturday's matchup marks the 19th all-time meeting between Mason and Rhode Island. The Patriots lead the series 10-8 and have won six of the past seven matchups. GMU won the first matchup this season, 61-50, on January 3 in Fairfax. The Patriots held the Rams to 35.2 percent shooting in the win. Sophomore Staš Sivka led GMU with personal bests in points (17) and rebounds (6) while going 6-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Rhode Island was picked to finish 12th in the 2025-26 A-10 preseason poll. The Rams went 9-4 in non-conference play, highlighted by a home win over top-100 foe Yale (86-77). The Rams are 2-4 to begin A-10 play and coming off a 69-68 win at Richmond Wednesday. URI ranks second in the A-10 and 41st nationally in steals/game (8.9) while forcing 14.2 turnovers per contest (56th in the nation). The Rams are 70th nationally in overall defensive efficiency (1.042 points/possession allowed). Jonah Hinton ranks 12th in the league in scoring (14.1 ppg) and is first in 3pt FG made/game (2.84), while Tyler Cochran adds 12.4 points/contest and is third in the country in steals/game (3.05). Jahmere Tripp chips in 10.8 points/game and shoots 46.7 percent from the floor.
