Patriots Head to Loyola Chicago for Second City Showdown

FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University men's basketball team (16-1, 4-0) travels to the Windy City for a Tuesday night battle with Loyola Chicago (5-12, 1-3).

Tip-off between the Patriots and Ramblers is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday's game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network, featuring commentary from Rich Waltz and Chris Walker. In addition, Voice of the Patriots Bill Rohland will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m.

PATRIOT POINTS
• The Patriots are 16-1 for the first time in school history and 4-0 in A-10 play for the first time in program annals. GMU is one of just 11 programs nationally to have 16 or more wins.

• Since the start of the 2024-25 season, George Mason leads the A-10 and ranks t-8th nationally in total wins (43).

• George Mason is 21-3 (.875) in its last 24 A-10 games dating back to the 2023-24 campaign.

• The Patriots increased their winning streak to seven with an 86-80 victory over VCU Saturday in Fairfax. It marked GMU's first home win over the Rams since 2016.

Riley Allenspach led five Patriots in double figures. He tallied 16 points (7-8 FG), while Fatt Hill also notched 16 points and made a career-best 10 free throws on 10 attempts.

• Allenspach is averaging a team-high 14.8 points in league play and shooting 65.8 percent, while Hill is averaging 7.3 free throws made/game in A-10 contests.

• Two-time A-10 Player of the Week Kory Mincy ranks second in the A-10 in scoring (16.9 ppg), third in assist/turnover ratio (2.44), eighth in 3pt FGM/game (2.29) and ninth in assists per contest (3.6). He is 15th nationally in FT percentage (.920).

• Mincy is 20 points away from 1,000 for his career.

• Mincy (3rd) and Jahari Long (7th) both rank in the A-10 top-10 in assist/turnover ratio. Against VCU, the dynamic duo combined for 10 assists and just one turnover in the victory.

• The Patriots lead the A-10 and are 38th nationally in fewest turnovers/game (10.2) and have averaged just 8.4 over the past 11 contests.

• GMU shot 40.9 percent (79-193) from 3pt range over the first 10 games of the season, but the Patriots are at just 25.7 percent (27-105) over the past seven contests. During that seven-game stretch, George Mason is 157-270 (.581) from inside the arc.

• The Patriots are one of the most balanced teams in college basketball. Over the season's 17 games, eight different Patriots have led the team in scoring, and nine players average at least 10 minutes.

• Skinn, the 2025 A-10 Coach of the Year, sports an overall win percentage of .741 (63-22) and is at 70.0 percent (28-12) in A-10 games over his first three seasons.

• The Patriots enter Tuesday's game ranked 68th in the NET. GMU also is No. 75 in KenPom.

HISTORY vs. LOYOLA CHICAGO
Saturday's game marks the sixth all time matchup between the Patriots and Ramblers in men's basketball. Loyola Chicago leads the series, 3-2, and is 2-0 against the Patriots inside Gentile Arena. Last season, the Patriots took down the Ramblers in overtime, 58-53, on January 29 in Fairfax. George Mason led 49-42 with 4:13 remaining in regulation, but Loyola Chicago stormed back with a 7-0 run to tie the game at 49-49. But in overtime, the Green & Gold shut the Ramblers down while holding Loyola to 0-of-8 from the field. The Patriots were +5 (9-4) in the extra session to hang on for the victory.

A LOOK AT THE RAMBLERS (5-12, 1-3 A-10; NET #315, KenPom #293)
Loyola Chicago was picked to finish fifth in the A-10 preseason poll and received two first place votes. The Ramblers went 4-9 in non-conference play, highlighted by an 80-78 win at top-50 foe Santa Clara. Loyola Chicago opened A-10 play with a 61-57 win at Rhode Island but have since dropped three straight. The team is 3-6 in home games this season and ranks 329th nationally in defensive efficiency (1.166 points allowed/possession). Justin Moore leads the team in scoring (12.5 ppg) and is third in the A-10 with 4.1 assists/contest. Preseason All-A-10 Defensive Team pick Miles Rubin adds 10.9 points/game and ranks 14th nationally in blocks/game (2.53), while Kayde Dotson chips in 10.4 points per game and shoots 37 percent from beyond the arc.

George Mason returns home to host George Washington January 19 for the first of two matchups against the Revolutionaries this season. Tip-off on MLK Day is set for 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network.
