ANNAPOLIS, Md. – George Mason women's volleyball battled through a five-set thriller to top Navy, 3-2 (15-25, 25-18, 25-13, 23-25, 15-13), on Saturday evening at Wesley A. Brown Field House.
After dropping the opening set, George Mason responded with commanding wins in sets two and three, including hitting .423 in the third frame. Navy forced a decisive fifth set with a narrow 25-23 victory in the fourth, but the Patriots closed strong, outlasting the Midshipmen 15-13 to secure the match.
The highlight of the night was the Green & Gold's front line. A total of 29 blocks (28 block assists and 1 solo block) helped the Patriots in some crucial momentum moments. Nine of those blocks belonged to junior Chelsea Colter, tying her career-high.
George Mason finished with 45 kills on a .191 hitting percentage, 72 total points, and 56 digs.
PATRIOT POINTS
- Kiera Hamilton powered the offense with a match-high 19 kills while hitting .325, adding 13 digs and five blocks for a 22.5-point performance
- Chelsea Colter was also strong at the net with seven kills and nine blocks, tied for her career-high
- Haley Graetz chipped in nine kills and 11.5 points
- Ava Cheney tallied 21 assists and 4 blocks
- Defensively, Autumn Martinez-Robinson anchored the back row with a team-best 17 digs.

The Patriots round out the weekend with a match against Air Force tomorrw, Sunday, Sept. 7, at 12 p.m. Admission to the Kristen Dickmann Invitational is
free, but only those with a DoD-approved ID will be allowed to drive onto the USNA. All other fans must park at an offsite location and take a fan bus in. Fans can park at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (there is a $10 fee to park) and take the free shuttle onto the base, departing and leaving from the Blue Angel jet.
All visitors 18 and over must have a valid picture ID to enter the USNA. No exceptions.
