Chelsea Colter was named the Defensive Player of the Week and freshman outside hitter
Kiera Hamilton was named the Rookie of the Week. The Patriots went 2-0 over the Saint Louis Billikens in their opening weekend of conference play.
Colter had a standout defensive performance against the Billikens. She finished the weekend with 20 total blocks, including a career-high 15 block performance on Friday vs. Saint Louis. Following up the next day with five more blocks, Colter averaged 2.86 blocks, 2.0 kills, and 3.64 points per set over the Patriots 7 sets this weekend. She also leads the A-10 in blocks in conference play.
Hamilton was named a starter at the beginning of the season, and the freshman hasn't missed a step. Averaging 4.14 kills at a .269%, 1.86 digs, and 1.0 blocks per set over the weekend, Hamilton was a huge offensive firepower in the two wins over Saint Louis. Her 19 kills and 11 digs on Friday was her eigth double-double of the season so far. She currently leads the A-10 in points in conference play, and is second in kills.
This is the first time since 2018 that the Patriots have had two players named A-10 honorees in the same week. The last two players were Bailey Williams (offensive) and Catie Espinoza (defensive).
