FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason opened Atlantic 10 play in dominant fashion Friday night, defeating Saint Louis 3–1 (25–21, 22–25, 25–18, 25–20) inside the Recreation & Athletic Complex. This is the first time the Patriots have beaten the Billikens since 2018, and just the second time ever in the teams' 21 matchups.
George Mason (8-4, 1-0 A-10) came out strong in the opening set, hitting .440 in a 25–21 win. After the Billikens (8-4, 0-1 A-10) edged the second set 25–22, the Patriots responded with a dominant 25–18 third frame, including an 11-0 run off the service of Camryn Weldon. George Mason then closed the match with a late 5–1 run to take the fourth set, 25–20.
The Patriots controlled the match with a balanced attack and stifling defense. Kiera Hamilton powered the offense with a match-high 19 kills on .250 hitting, adding five block assists and 11 digs for 22.5 total points. Chelsea Colter was a force at the net, finishing with nine kills on a .467 clip and a career-high 15 blocks. Weldon dished out 21 assists, added 11 digs, and served up four aces.
The Patriots hit .244 as a team while limiting Saint Louis to just .091 and out-blocked the Billikens 33-10 in total blocks.
