Fairfax, Va. -- The George Mason women's soccer team (1-5-2, 0-0) is slated to host conference and DMV opponent George Washington (3-2-3, 0-0) on Saturday, September 20 at 6 p.m. The match will be held inside George Mason Stadium. Mason Athletics will be celebrating the 1985 NCAA Women's Soccer National Championship team at halftime. This match will mark both the first conference matchup for both teams. GMU is coming off a 0-0 draw against American, which saw a several scoring chances in the second half.

Aaron Brunner is feeling confident in his squad after the past two matches. Mason's starting back line, consisting of
Zoe Vidaurre,
Carly Passaro, and
Madyson Taylor, have done an excellent job of limiting the opponent's scoring chances and advancing the ball up the pitch. The defensive line, along with goalkeeper
Libby Davy, will need to be in top form on Saturday, with eight different Revolutionaries recording a goal this season.
SCOUTING THE REVOLUTIONARIES
George Washington is led on the pitch by Kalia Kau and Kathleen Ngulefac, who each have scored two goals each this season. Additionally, five other Revolutionaries have recorded a goal thus far. GW has recorded 34 shots on goal this season, while allowing its opponents to have 42 scoring opportunities. On the goalkeeping side, Kate Silverstein has been the primary goal-minder, with a goals-against-average of 1.47, while recording 27 saves this season. Her save percentage is 0.711, which the Mason offense must take advantage of.
HISTORY AGAINST GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Patriots have faced off against GW many times, holding a 9-3-3 all-time advantage over the Revolutionaries. Mason's longest win streak was four games, from November 5, 2015 to September 27, 2018. The two programs faced off last year on September 29 in Washington DC, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
1985 NCAA CHAMPIONS 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. George Mason will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1985 Women's Soccer National Championship throughout the game. Led by 1983 USYSA Coach of the Year Hank Leung, Mason defeated North Carolina 2-0 in the NCAA Championship game on November 24, 1985, before a then-NCAA record 4,500 people in Fairfax. The Tar Heels (18-1-1) entered the match 10-0 all-time in the NCAA Tournament while Mason was 4-3. In the previous three championship matches, the Tar Heels had not allowed a goal.

PATRIOTS SCHEDULE
The George Mason University women's soccer team's 2025 schedule features a competitive slate of matchups highlighted by regional rivalries, Atlantic 10 battles, and a strong mix of home and away contests. The Patriots will play 18 regular season matches, including 10 at home at George Mason Stadium.
George Mason began the campaign with a 1-1 draw on the road at William & Mary on Thursday, August 14.
The Patriots wrapped up August with a four-game stretch that included home matches against Delaware and James Madison, followed by road games at Villanova and UPenn.
The Green & Gold rounded out the second-to-last non-conference matchup with a win against Loyola Maryland, 1-0. The Patriots previous match against American ended in a 0-0 draw at home.
A-10 play will continue after the match against GW, with road trips to Richmond (Sept. 25) and La Salle (Sept. 28).
October brings the heart of conference play, starting with a home clash against St. Bonaventure on Thursday, October 2. After a visit to Duquesne on October 5, the Patriots will then host VCU on October 11.
The Green & Gold will close out the regular season with four more A-10 matchups, hosting Davidson (Oct. 16), traveling to Fordham (Oct.19) and Dayton (Oct. 23), and finishing at home against Saint Joseph's on Sunday, October 26.
