MacTier, Ontario – The George Mason men's golf team finished ninth at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational at Öviinbyrd Golf Club, posting a team score of 880 (+16) after three rounds. The Patriots carded a final-round 294 (+6) to hold steady in the standings against a strong field.
Sophomore David Fuhrer paced the Patriots with a top 25 finish (24th) with three consistent rounds rounds of 72-74-72 (218) (+2) on the 7,094 yard course. The sophomore carded two eagles on Par 5s, notching an eagle in the final round on the Par 5, Hole #4. Junior Vijay Powell tied for 30th at 220(+4) highlighted by two eagles as well, both on hole #18, in the first two rounds.
Vaughn McMeans (T32, 221) and freshman Philip Krone (T36, 222) delivered steady play throughout the tournament, while Uzair Mirza (T42, 225) rounded out the Mason lineup.
Notre Dame (-35) won the tournament by 10 strokes over runner-up Michigan (-25). The Fighting Irish's Calen Sandersen earned medalist honors (-19).
The Patriots travel locally to Annapolis this weekend to play in Navy's The Goat Invitational.
