FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball head coach
Tony Skinn ('06) has announced that
Jay Lozano will serve as his program's assistant director of basketball operations.
A member of Skinn's staff since 2023, Lozano worked as a graduate assistant for the Patriots during the team's record-breaking 2024-25 campaign.
"Jay has done a phenomenal job over the last two years and I'm so grateful we are able to expand his role with the program," Skinn said. He's one of the hardest working individuals I've been around, but most importantly, he's an elite human being. When Jay walks into the room, everybody smiles. That's the type of person you want representing your institution."
While serving as a graduate assistant with the Patriots, Lozano oversaw the undergraduate student manager staff while assisting with equipment, travel, recruiting and business operations. He also acted as a liaison for alumni and donor relations for the program.
Lozano came to George Mason from Xavier University, where he served as the head student managers for the Musketeers' women's basketball program and also worked as a camp instructor with the men's program.
Lozano graduated from Xavier in May 2023 and played for the Musketeers' club golf team. He earned his Master's Degree from George Mason this past May.
In addition to his team roles, Lozano also has worked as a basketball operations intern for The Basketball Tournament (TBT), a Hoop Group Jam Fest Tournament Operations Associate and a camp instructor for Stanford Men's and Women's Basketball.
Lozano is a native of San Jose, California.
