Fairfax, Va. -- The Patriots fell short in their home opener by a score of 2-0. The Blue Hens struck first, with a goal in the 19th minute by Lilli Lubic, her first of the season from 15 yards out. The assist came from Maggie Groh, who continues to fill the stat sheet this season. The Patriots kept up the pressure for the rest of the half, limiting Delaware to one goal in 45 minutes of play.

George Mason responded well, attempting 10 shots in the latter 45 minutes of play to the Blue Hens' two. Patriots midfielder Molly Starner led the Green and Gold with three shots in 80 minutes of playing time. Graduate midfielder Ariana Reyes and redshirt sophomore Mia Arevalo-Delcid followed with two shots each in 47 and 90 minutes of action, respectively. 

Delaware extended its lead with a 91st minute header by Brooke Vogel, finding the back of the net for the first time this season. She was assisted by Lilli Lubic, her second point of the evening. The Patriots had three corner attempts in the second half, but could not convert. 

It was a physical 90 minutes of action, with George Mason logging eight fouls and Delaware recorded five.

The Patriots and the Blue Hens each recorded four corner kicks, with the majority of them coming in the second half. The Patriots recorded five shots on goal to Delaware's four. George Mason out shot Delaware, 11 to five.

Libby Davy, Arevalo-Delcid, Vidaurre, Franjicic, Chrapek, and Passaro each played the full 90 minutes.
