FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's basketball team will play at Virginia Tech for the first time since 1991 when the Patriots travel to Blacksburg to take on the Hokies this upcoming season.
George Mason will play Virginia Tech in Cassell Coliseum on Saturday, December 6, as part of the Patriots' 2025-26 non-conference schedule.
It will mark the second-straight season under head coach Tony Skinn ('06) that the Patriots have competed against an ACC program during the non-league schedule. George Mason played at No. 5/5 Duke during the 2024-25 campaign.
The Patriots and Hokies have met just twice on the basketball court, with both matchups coming during the 1991-92 campaign. George Mason dropped a 76-64 contest in Blacksburg on Dec. 4, 1991, and won the return game in Fairfax (54-53) on February 10, 1992, inside EagleBank Arena.
During the upcoming non-conference season, George Mason also will compete in the Sunshine Slam Nov. 24-25 in Daytona Beach, Fla. The tournament field includes Florida Atlantic, Ohio and Loyola Marymount. The remainder of the team's non-league slate will be announced in the coming weeks.
