Brandon Cassedy has signed as a free agent with the Houston Astros.
Cassedy, from Manassas, Va., was selected Atlantic 10 First Team starting pitcher at the conclusion of the 2025 season. He finished the season with an 8-2 record and 3.32 ERA. The right-hander led the Patriots in wins (8), was second in starts (15), innings pitched (84.0) and strikeouts (78) and was fourth in ERA (3.32).
Among Atlantic 10 leaders, Cassedy ranked tied for first in the league in wins (8), allowed the second fewest runs (33), was third in ERA (3.32), fourth in opponent batting average (2.41) and sixth both in innings pitched (84.0) and strikeouts (78).
Cassedy earned back-to-back A-10 Pitcher of the Week honors for May 5 and May 11 and at the end of the regular season, he ranked 48th in the nation in earned run average. Cassedy tossed at least 5.0 innings in 11 of his outings and worked at least 6.0 innings in eight games.
