FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball head coach Tony Skinn ('06) has announced that Riley Allenspach will join the Patriot roster this coming season.

A 6-foot-11-inch forward/center, Allenspach played his first two seasons at Samford University, where he saw action in 59 games and shot 55.9 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent from 3pt range.

"Riley has a highly versatile skill in the front court and is extremely productive during his time on the floor," Skinn said. "You can throw the ball inside to him and he also can excel in five out. He has a good feel with his back to the basket, he has a nice touch and great hands. We got a first-hand evaluation of Riley when we played Samford in the NIT and were very impressed. He was being recruited at the highest level this spring, but he chose Mason because he felt he could make a major impact with our program.

Allenspach put together an efficient sophomore campaign for the Bulldogs in 2024-25. The Charlotte, N.C., product averaged 7.8 points and 3.0 rebounds in just 13.3 minutes/game. He shot 57.1 percent from the floor and matched that clip from 3pt range (12-21, .571). He scored in double figures on 12 occasions, including a career-best 22 point showing at VMI on Feb. 27.

Allenspach and the Bulldogs put together an outstanding season while notching 22 overall wins and the program's first ever NIT berth. Allenspach tallied seven points in the NIT First Round against the Patriots in EagleBank Arena.

As a freshman, Allenspach played in 32 games and made two starts for the 29-6 Bulldogs who earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament. He notched 5.6 points per game and shot 54.5 percent from the floor in 12.3 minutes/contest. He dazzled against second-seeded Kansas in the NCAA Tournament while pouring in 15 points (5-6 FG, 4-4 3pt) and four rebounds in just 17 minutes.

Allenspach was s a four-year letterwinner at Providence Day School in Charlotte. He was rated a four-star prospect by ESPN while being ranked the eighth-best player in North Carolina and seventh-best by 247 Sports.

Allenspach joins a Patriot transfer class for 2025-26 which includes forwards Dola Adebayo (Fort Myers, Fla./Mt. St. Mary's) and Nick Ellington (St. Louis, Mo./Murray State) and guards Jermahri Hill (Bessemer, Al.), Kory Mincy (East Point, Ga./Presbyterian), Masai Troutman (Frederick, Md./Northeastern) and Jahari Long (Houston, Texas).
