FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball head coach Tony Skinn ('06) has announced that former University of Maryland guard Jahari Long will join the Patriot roster for the 2025-26 season.
Long played for Skinn at both Seton Hall and Maryland during his collegiate career and brings a wealth of experience to the Green & Gold.
"I'm excited about Jahari," Skinn said. "Much like Darius, Woody, K.D. and Jalen have done for us, he's a high major guy who brings the experience of playing on the biggest stages. He'll understand terminology and what we do because of our time together at Seton Hall and Maryland. Most importantly, he's a great kid and he's a competitor. He understands the game so well and his size allows him to play multiple positions."
A 6-foot-5-inch guard, Long has seen action in 89 career games over five seasons in South Orange and College Park. His teams have made the NCAA Tournament in three of those five campaigns.
He played his first two years at Seton Hall, where he played in 24 total games due to injury.
Long transferred to Maryland alongside head coach Kevin Willard and Coach Skinn and saw action in 65 games over two seasons with the Terrapins before missing 2024-25 due to injury.
His best season came in 2023-24, where he averaged 4.7 points and 1.5 assists over 18.5 minutes per contest while shooting 35.5 percent from 3pt range. He notched 10+ points in games against Nebraska and Indiana.
The Houston, Texas, product attended Episcopal High School, playing under head coach Wayan Jones. He was named All-Private School by the
Houston Chronicle, Dallas Morning News and VYPE and was a two-time finalist for the Guy V. Lewis Award, given to the top high school player in the city of Houston. A three-time All-Southwest Preparatory Conference selection, he helped also helped lead Bellaire High School to a District championship in 2020.
Long joins a Patriot transfer class for 2025-26 which includes forward Dola Adebayo (Fort Myers, Fla./Mt. St. Mary's), guard Kory Mincy (East Point, Ga./Presbyterian) and guard Masai Troutman (Frederick, Md./Northeastern).
