FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball head coach Tony Skinn ('06) announced Monday that former Mt. St. Mary's student-athlete Dola Adebayo will compete for the Patriots beginning in 2025-26.
A key contributor for three seasons in Emmitsburg, Adebayo started all 36 games for the Mountaineers in 2024-25 while earning All-MAAC Second Team accolades. The 6-foot-8-inch forward averaged a team-best 13.2 points/contest and led his team to a victory in the NCAA Tournament.
"Dola is a winner," Skinn said. "We had a chance to evaluate him in real time when we played Mt. St. Mary's this season. His athleticism fits who we are and his length doubles down on who we've been. He's a mix of the guys we've had here at the combo four position and has the ability to step out and shoot the 3. He's a really good kid who will bring NCAA Tournament experience to our program."
In addition to pacing the team in scoring, Adebayo also ranked first on the Mountaineers and fifth in the MAAC in blocks/game (1.06) and was second on the team and eighth in the league rebounds/contests (6.9). He also shot an efficient 51.5 percent from the floor, 73.8 percent from the free throw line and dished out an assist per game.
Adebayo notched five double-doubles this past season and scored 10+ points in 28 games. That included five games with at least 20 points, including 22 points (9-15 FG) in the team's NCAA win over American. He notched 13 points in a Dec. 28 contest at George Mason.
A native of Fort Myers, Fla., Adebayo saw action in 95 career games at the Mount while making 51 starts.
Prior to his three collegiate seasons, Adebayo played his prep year at The Cantebury School. He averaged 14.1 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks while shooting 55 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range.
