Alumni weekend and on Saturday, April 19th we will celebrate Senior Night and the 1985 squad
Fairfax, Va.- The men's volleyball team will be celebrating alumni weekend with Senior Night set to be celebrated on Saturday. George Mason will also recognize the 1985 team that won the EIVA title and competed in the NCAA Tournament coached by Wayne Stalick.
The Patriot's dream of hosting the EIVA tournament and having a bye week was shut down last weekend with two defeats against Penn State. George Mason can still reach the #3 seed but can also go as low as the 6
th seed.
The Patriots and the Golden Eagles have faced each other a total of 22 times since 2015. George Mason lead the series with a comfortable 20 wins and only two losses. Charleston got a win in 2023 and another in 2024. The last game that both teams have played was in the EIVA post season tournament hosted by Penn State. The semifinals were won by the Patriots with an inspired
Jack Bolz and
Omar Hoyos.
Scouting the University of Charleston:
- The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 12-14 and a conference record of 5-5
- They are currently the #4 seed, two spots above the Patriots
- Kai Cousins is the offensive output leading his team in kills with 261 and digs with 136
- Paul Stommel has the most assists with 764 and also leads his squad in service aces with 22
- Braxton Francis is the defensive unit with 40 blocks
