Fairfax, Va.- George Mason suffer a loss at home against the fifth best team in the country, UC Irvine.
The Patriots have not lost a game at home since February 16
th against #16 CSUN. The 2024 AVCA Player of the Year, Henno Hilir, recorded 14 kills and six aces in three sets.
George Mason put up a fight in the first set falling 21-25. The attacking trio of
Robert Evangelista,
Jackson Herbert, and Gio Collazo were all scoring point for the Patriots.
The Anteaters gained more confidence in the second set and made it difficult for the Patriots to come back. UC Irvine closed out the second set with six consecutive points, 25-17.
Evan Snodgrass had a .600 hitting and recorded four kills as a middle blocker to help the offense.
Liam French started the third set and recorded a .667 hitting percentage with four kills. UC Irvine were too strong for the Patriots in the third set starting with a commanding lead of 11-1. A service error by the Patriots concluded the match ending the four-game winning streak.
