Fairfax, Va.- George Mason came back with a crucial conference win against the Highlanders. The Patriots are now 3-1 in conference play.
The first set began with NJIT achieving a .688 hitting percentage and 12 kills from 16 attempts. The Patriots recorded 14 kills but the Highlanders started the set stronger and took the first set 25-19.
The Patriots came out the second set with an inspired Gio Collazo,
Robert Evangelista, and
Jackson Herbert to lead the offensive charge. NJIT struggles with a .000 hitting in the second set and George Mason tied the game up at one set a piece.
The third set was a hard-fought battle with the Patriots overcoming the Highlanders, 25-21. The defensive wall of
Alexander Lillie and
Evan Snodgrass was crucial to gain a 2-1 lead.
George Mason was looking to close out the game with a super sub,
Liam French. Liam closed out the game with three kills including two consecutive service aces to finalize the match and complete the comeback.
