FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University men's basketball team (17-5, 8-1) wraps up a two-game road trip with a Wednesday contest at intra-DMV rival George Washington (15-7, 4-5).
Tip-off between the Patriots and Revolutionaries is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+, featuring commentary from Byron Kerr and Jimmy Patsos. In addition, Voice of the Patriots Bill Rohland will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m.
PATRIOT POINTS
• The Patriots have won seven in a row and 15 of their past 17 games. GM is coming off a 64-60 victory at Davidson on Saturday. The Patriots held the Wildcats to a season-low 36.5 percent clip from the floor.
• The Patriots are in sole possession of first place in the A-10 and are three games ahead of fourth in the league ledger.
• The Green & Gold are off to the best A-10 start in program history (8-1). GM's 17-5 record marks the Patriots' best overall start since 2011-12. That team started 18-5 (10-1 CAA).

Jalen Haynes and
Darius Maddox each posted 12 points Saturday to lead the Patriots.
Brayden O'Connor scored eight of his 10 points in the second half, including the final two clutch free throws to ice the game inside Belk Arena.
• With his second 3-pointer Saturday, Maddox became the 20th player in school history to make 100 triples in a George Mason uniform.
• George Mason is 3-1 on the road in A-10 play and has won its last three A-10 road affairs. The Patriots are the first team to win at Dayton and St. Bonaventure in the same season since VCU in 2018-19.
• George Mason ranks second in the nation in FG defense (.363) while also ranking high in effective FG defense (2nd, .430), 2pt defense (2nd, .415) and 3pt defense (25th, .298). The Patriots are eighth in scoring defense (62.1 ppg allowed) and 19th in overall defensive efficiency (0.944 points/possession).
• To put those numbers in perspective, since the addition of the 3pt line to college basketball in 1986-87, only eight teams have held opponents under 36 percent from the floor, under 42 percent from 2, under 30 percent from 3, under 43 percent effective FG% and under 63.0 points/game for an entire season. Six of those eight teams made the NCAA Tournament.
• GM has held its opponent under 40 percent shooting in 76.2 percent (17 of 22) of its games this season. Since 1998-99, GM's best rate holding opponents under 40 percent is in 20 of 33 games in 2008-09 (.606).
• The Patriots are 14-1 when shooting 30 percent or better from from 3pt range on the season.
• Senior
K.D. Johnson is averaging 4.0 assists and just 1.3 turnovers over the past three contests.
• George Mason is receiving votes in this week's AP top-25 poll. The Patriots are ranked 69th nationally in the Feb. 4 NET. GM also is 72nd in the Ken Pomeroy rankings. It marks the Patriots' highest spot in the KenPom ledger since December 2011.
HISTORY vs. GW
Wednesday's game marks the 37th all-time meeting between local rivals George Mason and George Washington. The schools are separated by just 20 miles and are situated on the same DC Metro line (Orange). Mason has won 10 of the past 15 matchups between the programs. Overall, GW holds a 24-12 advantage in the series and has captured 17 of the 19 matchups in DC.

A LOOK AT THE REVOLUTIONARIES (15-7, 4-5 A-10; NET #135, KenPom #126)
George Washington was picked to finish 13th in the A-10 preseason poll, but the Revs put together a solid 11-2 non-conference record and are 4-5 to begin A-10 play. Much like the Patriots, the Revs excel at getting to the line and rank 30th nationally in free throws attempted/game (23.2). Defensively, GW ranks in the top-30 in steals/game (9.3, 23rd) and 3pt FG defense (.298, 27th). Gerald Drumgoole Jr. leads the team in scoring with 13.4 points/game. Darren Buchanan adds 12.7 points and grabs 6.9 rebounds/contest, while Rafael Castro chips in 12.6 points and a team-best 9.2 rebounds (3rd in A-10) while shooting 69.1 percent from the floor.
