Fairfax –  The George Mason wrestling team will compete in its final regular season match of this season on Sunday, Feb. 16 in a non-conference dual against American at 6 p.m. The Patriots will be honoring their six seniors prior to the opening bout.

George Mason's (12-5) 12 wins is the most wins in a season since the 2007-08 team finished 13-5. The Green and Gold recorded 11-win seasons the past two years. 

Senior Day Honorees:  Drew Dickson, Tyler Kocak, Jon List, Michael, Rapuano, Kayden Cassidy, and Riley Hackworth.

The Patriots Evan Maag is among the top 10 of all of NCAA Division I Wrestling in bonus points, with eight pins.

RPI RANKINGS:  George Mason had five wrestlers earn spots on this year's first RPI rankings, released on Feb. 13: #33 Ben Monn at 125, #25 Kaden Cassidy at 149, #23 DJ McGee at 157, #19 Evan Maag at 165, and #29 Malachi DuVall at 184. American had four wrestlers earn a spot in the RPI rankings; #28 Raymond Lopez at 133, #32 Kaden Milheim at 165, #24 Caleb Campos at 174, and #18 Will Jarrell at heavyweight. 

History with American:  Mason and American have met on the mat 39 times dating back to the 1974-75 season. The Patriots have an edge in the overall record, 21-17-1. Mason won 20-16 on Nov. 18, 2021, to break a 10-match win streak American had held since 2009. After winning in 22-23, the Green and Gold fell 21-15 at American.

Nationally Ranked Opponents:  Freshman James Blackman is off to a great start in his collegiate career with a 15-9 record, including 6-0 in the MAC. He earned the biggest upset of his young career with a triple-sudden death, 4-3 decision against Cleveland State's #25 Daniel Bucknavich. He will battle American's #32 William Jarrell.
