Men's Basketball 12/9/2025 12:48:00 PM
FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University Department of Athletics has partnered with Eventshop to produce a custom augmented reality commemorative ticket for Saturday's men's basketball game vs. Old Dominion, powered by Eventshop's Mem-re Tech™.

The ticket celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the program's 2006 Final Four run and will be distributed to season ticket holders and Throwback 2-Pack mini plan holders at the 12:30 p.m. game vs. the Monarchs.

Each commemorative ticket is custom numbered and includes a design featuring former head coach Jim Larrañaga and the program's student-athletes.

The back of the ticket highlights the 2005-06 roster as well as a special QR code which launches the user into an augmented reality video. The subsequent menu of interactive features includes custom videos, a comprehensive photo gallery, feature stories, merchandise and more, celebrating one of the most iconic NCAA Tournament runs in college basketball history.

Season ticket holders and Throwback 2-Pack mini plan holders can pick up their commemorative tickets at the South Concourse ticket booth on gameday. Supporters with access to the Green Room can also pick up their commemorative tickets in that space on the day of the game.

About the 2006 Final Four Run
The 2006 Patriots made history as the first modern "Cinderella" to reach the NCAA Final Four, capturing the nation's hearts with upset victories over Michigan State, North Carolina, and top-ranked Connecticut in what is widely considered the greatest Elite Eight triumph in tournament history.

Two starters from that legendary team remain central to the program's success today. Tony Skinn has led the Patriots to 56 wins and a 71.8 winning percentage in a little more than two seasons as head coach while leading the program to its first-ever A-10 regular season title. In addition, his teammate, Lamar Butler, the 2006 NCAA East Region Most Outstanding Player, continues to contribute as George Mason's Director of Player Development, a role he has held since 2023.

At The Game
Fans are encouraged to stay in their seats for a special halftime ceremony when former head coach Jim Larrañaga will have a banner permanently raised to the rafters of EagleBank Arena. Coach L's former players will join him on the court for this special presentation.

In addition, select members of the 2006 team will sign autographs at the South Concourse after the game. Autograph cards will be provided and fans also are welcome to have their gear, tickets or other items signed by the team.

The 2006 Final Four Trophy also will be on display on the concourse leading up to and throughout the game vs. the Monarchs. Fans are welcome to take photos with the trophy as part of the celebration
