FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University men's basketball team (11-1) wraps up non-conference play Sunday with a home contest against Ivy League foe Penn (6-5).

Tip-off between the Patriots and Quakers is set for 5 p.m. Sunday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+, featuring commentary from Voice of the Patriots Bill Rohland and former George Mason forward Will Thomas. In addition, Steve Kolbe will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage beginning at 4:45 p.m.

PATRIOT POINTS
• The Patriots began the season 9-0 for the first time in school history and are 11-1 for just the third time in program annals. GMU last won 12 non-conference games in 1983-84 (when the team played just 10 league games) and has not accomplished the feat in the program's CAA or A-10 eras (1985-present).

• The Patriots are coming off an 86-79 victory over Loyola (Md.) on Dec. 21. GMU shot 55.6 percent in the second half and outscored the Greyhounds by 12 (51-39) in the stanza.

Kory Mincy garnered his second A-10 Player of the Week honor of the month Monday after pacing the Patriots with a game-high 26 points vs. the Greyhounds while adding four assists and two steals in the win.

• Mincy ranks third nationally in FT percentage (.962) and 18th in 3pt percentage (.485). He leads the A-10 in scoring (18.1 ppg) and is the only player in the country to average 17+ points while shooting better than 45 percent from 3pt and 95 percent from the free throw line.

• Mincy was one of four Patriots in double figures vs. Loyola (Md.). Jahari Long tallied 18 points and a team-high five assists, while Riley Allenspach (16 pts, 6 reb) and Masai Troutman (15 pts, 10-11 FT) also made key contributions. Allenspach is averaging a team-best 21.5 points over the past two games.

• George Mason holds a combined +66 (332-266) bench scoring edge over its opponents this season. The Patriot reserve unit has outscored its counterparts in eight of 12 games on the year.

• GMU leads the A-10 and ranks 17th nationally in 3pt percentage (.389). However, over the past three games, the Patriots are 16-of-54 (.296) from beyond the arc.

• The Green & Gold rank sixth nationally in FT rate (.501) and make 20.6 free throws/game (sixth in the country). On the other end of the floor, the Patriots commit just 14.8 fouls per contest (25th-best nationally).

• George Mason is 6-0 when the team scores 80+ points this season and 22-0 when the team reaches the 80-point plateau under Coach Skinn.

• The Patriots enter Sunday's game ranked 75th in the NET. GMU also is No. 79 in KenPom.

HISTORY vs. IVY LEAGUE FOES
George Mason has tallied a 13-3 all time record against opponents from the Ivy League. The Patriots' most common foe is Penn (5-1). In the most recent matchup with an Ivy opponent, the Patriots defeated Cornell earlier this season, 99-81, on Dec. 2 inside EagleBank Arena.

HISTORY vs. PENN
Sunday's game marks the seventh all-time meeting between George Mason and Penn in men's basketball. The Patriots have won five of the six games in the series. In arguably the most memorable matchup between the teams, Mason won 79-60 in the Palestra on Dec. 10, 2016. In that win, Marquise Moore posted the first triple-double in school history (17 pts, 16 reb, 10 ast). In the most recent matchup, the Patriots knocked off the Quakers, 85-53, last season on Dec. 22, 2024, in Fairfax. Jalen Haynes led the Green & Gold with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

A LOOK AT THE QUAKERS (6-5, 0-0 IVY; NET #230, KenPom #227)
Penn was picked to finish sixth out of seven teams in the Ivy League preseason poll, but have impressed this season with A-10 victories over Saint Joseph's (83-74) and La Salle (73-71) and a last-second, 70-69 loss at Big Ten foe Rutgers. The Quakers rank 28th nationally in 3pt FG percentage (.386) and lead the Ivy League with 24.5 free throw attempts/game. Ethan Roberts is third in the conference in scoring (18.6 ppg) and has made 17-of-36 triples (.436) on the year. TJ Power adds 15.1 points/game and is second in the Ivy League with 8.1 rebounds/contest. Michael Zanoni also averages double figures (10.6 ppg) for the Quakers, who are in their first season under former Iowa head coach and Penn alum Fran McCaffery.
