FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason returns to action Friday night with a contest against Big South power Winthrop.
Tip-off between the Patriots and Eagles is set for 7 p.m. Friday's game will be televised regionally on MASN and streamed nationally on ESPN+, featuring commentary from Voice of the Patriots Bill Rohland and former Georgetown head coach Craig Esherick. In addition,
Steve Kolbe will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m.

• The Patriots opened the season with a 70-46 victory over Wofford on Monday night inside EagleBank Arena.
• The win improved George Mason to 36-24 (.600) all time in season openers. GMU has now won seven of its past nine campaign kickstarters, including a 3-0 mark under head coach
Tony Skinn ('06).
• After sporting a top-50 defense (No. 31) last season, the Patriots picked up where they left off Monday, holding the Terriers to 46 points and a 30.0 field goal percentage. It marked the fewest points allowed by the Green & Gold since a 64-46 win over Richmond on March 9, 2024.
• Junior guard
Kory Mincy led the Patriots with game highs in points (18) and assists (6). He went 6-of-9 from the floor and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Riley Allenspach (12 points) and
Masai Troutman (10 points) also reached double figures for George Mason.
• Skinn, the 2025 A-10 Coach of the Year, sports an overall win percentage of .696 (48-21) and is at 66.7 percent (24-12) in A-10 games over his first three seasons.
• GMU is 33-5 (.868) at home under Skinn. The team's 18 home wins in 2024-25 (9-0 A-10) set a new school record.

HISTORY vs. WINTHROP
Friday's game marks the second all time meeting between George Mason and Winthrop in men's basketball. In the only previous, matchup, the Patriots defeated the Eagles 86-66 at the 2001 Rogers AT&T NCAA Basketball Showcase in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
HISTORY vs. BIG SOUTH FOES
George Mason is 24-6 (.800) all time against current members of the Big South Conference. The Patriots' most common opponents are Radford (14-4), Charleston Southern (4-2) and Longwood (4-0). In the most recent matchup with a Big South foe, George Mason defeated UNC Asheville 74-52 last season on December 3.
A LOOK AT THE EAGLES (1-0, 0-0 Big South; KenPom #148)
Winthrop, winner of 20+ games in four of the past six seasons, was picked to finish fifth in the Big South preseason poll. The Eagles went 23-11 lst season and ranked sixth in the country in scoring (84.7 ppg). This season looks no different, as the Eagles scored 81 points Monday night in a win over Queens. Winthrop, under fifth-year head coach Mark Prosser, ranked fourth nationally last season in tempo (72.9 possessions/game) and were at 74 possessions on Monday. In addition to pushing the pace, Winthrop also disrupts offensive possessions, including an 11-steal performance in the victory over Queens. Preseason All-Big South pick Daylen Berry notched a game-high 23 points on Monday, while Logan Duncomb (12 points) and Tommy Kamarad (10 points) also scored in double figures.
