Fairfax-- George Mason University is set to square off once again with a long-time foe, American University—a matchup that dates back to the 1974–75 season, inside Bender Arena on Thursday at 7 pm.. The teams have met 40 times, more than any other opponent in Mason wrestling history.
Series History: George Mason leads the all-time series against American with a record of 21-18-1. However, the American Eagles have claimed victory in the last two meetings and have won 12 of the last 14 encounters.

- Back-to-Back MAC Wrestlers of the Week honors: Evan Maag (Nov. 11) and Logan Messer (Nov. 18) have earned MAC Wrestler of the Week honors to open the season. Maag had one of the top performances at the Mason Duals, earning a 10-2 major decision over No. 10-ranked Thomas Snipes of The Citadel. Messer at the 174 lbs category is coming off a strong performance, having recently clinched the championship at the Black Knight Open with a 4-0 record.
- Kaden Cassidy, ranked No. 18 nationally, earned an impressive 15-9 victory over No. 8 Kade Brown of Pittsburgh in the semifinals before winning the championship bout at the Navy Classic.
- The Patriots are 3-0 to open the 2025-26 season. The Green & Gold won eight straight last season.

- AU wrestling is coming off an accomplished 2024-25 season, posting the program's most wins since 2011 at 11-10 overall. The Eagles return four of their top five winners from last season, including #26 Raymond Lopez and #28 Caleb Campos.
- Graduate seniors Maximilian Leete (133) and Jack Maida (141) are also back after being unable to compete in dual meets last season. The pair are the two most experienced and accomplished wrestlers on the roster, as Leete was an NCAA-qualifier in 2024 and Maida made the tournament in 2023.
