FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason women's volleyball team has landed the fifth-seed in the 2025 Atlantic 10 Women's Volleyball Tournament. They are set to play tournament-host/fourth-seed VCU on Friday, November 21 at 1 p.m.
The Patriots finished the regular season 17-12, 10-8 in conference play, the best record the team has posted since 2009. They are also in the A-10 Tournament for the first time since 2018. Notably, the only member of the team that has been to an A-10 Tournament before is assistant coach
Peyton Ehmke, who was a freshman on the team during the Patriots' last appearance.
George Mason was picked to finished 10th in the A-10 preseason poll, but quickly had eyes on them after a 7-4 non-conference season (the program's best start since 2009) including a 3-0 sweep of the Big Ten's Rutgers. They then opened conference play 4-0 with wins over Saint Louis and Duquesne. A minor setback after a loss vs. GW, the Patriots went on to sweep Davidson that same week. Though the Patriots suffered some big injuries this year, the team's "next man up" mentality was evident. Of the team's seven most-started players, five of them entered the season with one or less year of collegiate experience. Now, entering the tournament, the Patriots will look to continue to make history.
