FAIRFAX, Va. - Women's basketball head coach
Vanessa Blair-Lewis has announced the signing of guard Kailani "KK" Merrell.
"We are delighted to welcome Kailani "KK" Merrell to the 2026 freshman class," said Blair-Lewis. "She was a late addition to our recruiting board but possesses tremendous talent. As a unique mid-year addition, she will join us in Spring 2026 to prepare for Fall 2026 competition."
A native of Daytona, Florida, Merrell is set to graduate from Spruce Creek High School early and enroll at George Mason for the Spring semester.
A 6-guard, Merrell played for Spruce Creek, averaging 14.0 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.5 spg, and 1.0 apg in the 2024-25 season,
according to Max Preps. She also played club for FGB Travel Basketball.
"Kailani brings size, length, and versatility to our depth chart. Her ability to stretch the floor will be her most valuable asset on the court," said Blair-Lewis. "A stellar student in the classroom, she embodies the academic excellence that is a priority of our culture. She will be an immediate asset upon her arrival in Fairfax, VA.
