PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The George Mason women's volleyball team extended its perfect start to Atlantic 10 play with a 3–1 victory over Duquesne on Friday afternoon at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. The Patriots improved to 11–4 overall and 4–0 in conference action with set scores of 25–15, 19–25, 25–17, 25–21.
George Mason hit an efficient .297 as a team, tallying 57 kills, nine aces, and six blocks.
The Patriots raced out to a 25–15 opening set win behind a .297 hitting percentage and five straight points midway through the frame to break things open. Duquesne responded in the second, capitalizing on George Mason errors and a three-ace run from Mirabella Iriarte to even the match 1–1.
The Patriots controlled the third set with balanced offense and strong blocking, registering four team blocks and closing on a 7–3 run to take it 25–17. The fourth set featured seven ties, but the Green & Gold used a late push capped by kills from Hamilton and Colter to seal the 25–21 win and the match.
