PITTSBURGH, Pa. – George Mason women's volleyball extended its strong start to Atlantic 10 play with a gritty five-set road victory over Duquesne (25–22, 25–21, 14–25, 21–25, 15–11) on Friday night at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. With the win, the Patriots improved to 10–4 overall and 3–0 in league action.
George Mason came out strong, taking the opening two sets behind a balanced offensive attack and timely defense.
After Duquesne rallied to win the third and fourth sets, the Patriots regrouped in the decisive fifth frame. Kiera Hamilton and Avery Booker combined for four kills down the stretch, and George Mason held the Dukes to a negative hitting percentage in the final set to secure the 15–11 win.
Defensively, Autumn Martinez-Robinson anchored the back row with a match-high 27 digs and Chelsea Colter once again dominated at the net with 11 total blocks, helping George Mason limit Duquesne to just .098 hitting overall. As a team, the Patriots tallied six service aces and out-blocked the Dukes 18.0 to 10.0.
