DAYTON, Ohio – The George Mason women's volleyball team fell in straight sets (19-25, 14-25, 21-25) to league-leading Dayton on Friday night inside the Frericks Center.
The Patriots (14-7, 7-3 Atlantic 10) were led by Kiera Hamilton, who posted a team-high 12 kills along with six digs and two blocks. Avery Booker added nine kills and 12 digs, while Chelsea Colter tallied five kills and three blocks in the effort. Setters Ava Cheney and Camryn Weldon combined for 29 assists, and Autumn Martinez-Robinson anchored the defense with 11 digs.
George Mason started strong in the opening set, taking an early lead behind back-to-back kills from Hamilton and Colter. The Patriots battled through nine ties in the frame before Dayton (16-6, 11-0 A-10) closed on a 9–3 run to claim the set 25–19.
The Flyers' serving pressure and front-row defense proved difficult to overcome in the second set, as George Mason hit just .032 despite early kills from Brown and Graetz. The Green & Gold showed resilience in the third, forcing 13 ties and five lead changes, highlighted by timely kills from Booker and Hamilton, before Dayton sealed the sweep 25–21.
As a team, George Mason recorded 33 kills, 33 assists, and 42 digs, hitting .089 for the match with five blocks and two aces. Dayton countered with 32 kills, six aces, and seven blocks on a .165 attack percentage.
