Dayton, Ohio -- The George Mason Patriots (4-9-3, 3-4-1) will hit the road for their final regular season away game as they take on the Dayton Flyers (11-3-2, 8-0-0) on Thursday, October 23. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Baujan Field.
The Patriots have dropped their last five matchups against the Flyers. Mason's two wins in the series came at home, both by a 2-1 scoreline during the 2016 and 2018 seasons.
George Mason enters the final stretch of the regular season ranked 10th in the Atlantic 10 standings. With only the top eight teams earning a spot in the conference tournament, the Patriots face a critical opportunity to secure valuable points and keep their postseason hopes alive.
The Patriots will look to build on their strong defensive showing from the previous match, where they held Fordham scoreless until the final minute. Despite being shut out in that contest, Mason's offense will aim to bounce back by continuing to use the flanks effectively, creating quality chances from set pieces, and converting opportunities in the final third. A balanced and clinical performance from the Green and Gold will be key in their last two regular season games.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton tops the Atlantic 10 standings with an undefeated 8-0-0 conference record.
The Flyers boast a balanced attack, with 11 different players finding the back of the net this season - six of whom have scored three or more goals. Additionally, 14 players have recorded at least one assist, highlighting Dayton's depth and versatility in the final third.
Leading the Flyers are sophomore midfielder Liv Grenda, who has tallied 14 points this season (5G, 4A), and sophomore forward Laney Smith, who follows closely with 13 points (5G, 3A).
Senior goalkeeper Batoul Reda has played every minute for Dayton this season. She has made 60 saves, allowed just 8 goals, and holds a goals-against average of 0.50. Reda has also recorded 12 shutouts. Her consistency in goal has helped Dayton lead the Atlantic 10 in fewest goals allowed.
