RICHMOND, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team dropped a road match to the VCU Rams, 3–1 (24–26, 25–15, 21–25, 22–25) at the Stuart C. Siegel Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Patriots (14–6, 7–2 Atlantic 10) came out strong in the opening set, rallying late to force extra points before narrowly dropping it, 26–24. George Mason wasted no time responding, dominating the second set 25–15 behind a relentless service run from Autumn Martinez-Robinson, who opened the frame with two aces as part of a 5–0 burst. The Green & Gold controlled the tempo from start to finish in the second set, hitting .219 in the set while holding the Rams to a .081 efficiency.
The third set saw both teams trade points early before a late VCU push tilted the frame in the Rams' favor. In the fourth, George Mason fought back from an early hole to tie the score at 19–19, fueled by timely kills from Avery Booker and Chelsea Colter, but VCU closed on a late run to take the match.
